Silk Dresses For Elegant JetsetBabes

One of the most elegant materials, in my opinion, is silk. It just screams luxury because of its shine and how delicate it is. Silk is definitely not for everyone, but everyone should at least try something with silk as it does truly elevate a whole look!

Recently I’ve noticed a trend happening with silk dresses. My personal taste in fashion is the timeless JetsetBabe style, meaning; silk dresses are always in fashion! It’s one of those items that can be worn year after year, without ever looking out-dated!

The silk dress can be of any length! Mini, midi or maxi, it doesn’t really matter! What matters is that you choose a color suitable for your skin tone and that you keep the silk dress clutter-free. No prints or distractions allowed!

Keep the outfit simple, let the silk be the center of attention. Match the dress with some simple and delicate jewelry. I wouldn’t accessorize too much – but that’s just my personal taste.

Silk is a material perfect for summer as it keeps you cool while being very comfortable to wear. The downside though it’s so delicate, it gets wrinkled very fast and the maintenance of silk is annoying! Be prepared to send it off to dry-clean or wash by hand. In some cases, some silk can survive a wash in a washbag in the washing machine, but I wouldn’t count on this for your dearest items.

At the end of the post, I have listed some suggestions for silk dresses for you to shop.

Silk dresses can also be found under the term “satin dress”.
To be honest, I have never understood the difference. If anyone knows the difference, feel free to drop a comment below and educate me!

Here is some silk dress inspiration with JetsetBabes wearing them. Do take notice of the colors and shapes and if there is one that would be suitable for you.

  1. Hi Anna! I agree with all your points on silk! It’s classy and glam, but the maintenance….sigh.

You asked about the differences between silk and satin, and they are in the content, weave and finish of the material. Satin’s weave creates a high sheen, and can be made of synthetic fibers….but can also be made of silk. Silk satin is incredibly luxurious as you point out so well!

Silk can also be crepe (a slightly sheened matte with a lightly textured finish), chiffon (like a thinner crepe) dupioni (slubbby textured, but very beautiful and holds structure well), shantung (a finer version of dupioni), charmeuse (lightweight satiny finish with a crepe back), gossamer (whisper-thin, and transparent), broadcloth (almost like a silk version of Oxford cloth), and many more.

  2. These are fantastic looks, I love the midi silk dresses. I agree simply let the silk fabric be the center of attention.
