Do you enjoy watching movies on affluence, elegance and high-society? I certainly do! I will be sharing my favorite movies with you in this genre, and today I’d like to recommend “Grace of Monaco” with Nicole Kidman.
Grace of Monaco was the movie to open Cannes Film Festival in 2014, but unfortunately got totally slammed by the critics.
I personally enjoyed watching this movie as it gives you great insight to the history of Monaco, the royal life and of course – the beautiful Grace Kelly.
The royal family of Monaco didn’t like the fact this movie came out, as it shows a rather less perfect image of their family background. I can sympathise with this as the royal culture is to keep things under wraps and value discretion.
However, we all know that perfection doesn’t exist, and that royals are just regular human beings like the rest of us. Which is perhaps why this movie was a success in my opinion, because you get to know the royals from a rare angle.
Additionally, I truly enjoyed having Nicole Kidman in the role of Grace Kelly, as elegance comes easy to Nicole! We all feel that elegance and affluence is deeply connected to the persona of Grace Kelly, which Nicole Kidman is able to translate beautifully through out the movie.
In movies like this, I enjoy observing the character to use as a case study and pick up interesting cues that we can learn from on our elegance journey. Even though this is acting, the actors have certainly gone to great detail to study the person they are playing in great detail, in order to get the exact feel of the character. Nicole Kidman definitely delivered on this in this movie!
If I would rate Grace of Monaco the movie, I would give it 3 Stars out of 5. Definitely worth watching!
