Guess what colors will make you look the most expensive? Yes, there is a color scheme that is more of a low-risk if you’re afraid of looking cheap – and that’s the neutral colors.
Bold artificial colors don’t necessarily look cheap in comparison, but you run a higher chance of wearing a garment that looks less expensive because it has a strong green, a neon pink or bright yellow (examples).
Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, khaki, off-white, cream, etc. are first of all more manageable to wear (easier to match!) but also the material of the garment doesn’t strike in a person’s eye if it’s on the lower quality end. It’s easier to get away wearing a budget top from Zara in a lovely cream color than it is wearing the same top but in a neon pink.
Also, our subconscious associate neutral colors being more expensive as high-end designers tend to favor these colors more over the very artificial ones in their production. So whenever we window shop in designer boutiques, we associate luxury with certain colors.
But currently, there is a trend of wearing very bold colours, overly decorated pieces and garments with loud patterns. Thankfully, the JetsetBabe trend is having a classic wardrobe, which is what Neutral colors are about. They never run out of style, and they are wearable both during winter and summer season. And best of all, you can mix and match these colors as you please, because, in comparison to bold, artificial colors, these go all well with each other!
