It’s always good to be more than a pretty face when entering polite society. It makes you interesting and leads to fascinating conversations. Many affluent men are intelligent, so you don’t want to bore them. In addition, you’ll be less awkward at dinner and cocktail parties too.
Here are some practical tips on feeding your mind:
Stay abreast with current news
After a long day at work, watching the news was the last task on my mind. Then I would meet a client who would ask my opinion on something, and I would give her a blank stare. She would later joke with me: “You know what people are thinking. They’re thinking she’s mighty pretty, but . . .”
In other words, please stay on top of current news. If everyone else knows what’s going on, but you don’t, it can be quite embarrassing.
Do Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and logic games
These challenge you intellectually. They will also exercise your brain, improve your vocabulary, and increase your memory.
Read all the classics, read bestsellers, read magazines, and read newspapers. If it’s in print, read it! I remember an elite bachelor saying to me: “Physically she was my fantasy, but she doesn’t read.” He found the not reading bit a huge turn-off.
Go to museums and art galleries
A way to learn about art, history, and antiquities is to go to the places that offer education. Learn about botany, the Middle Ages, and Rembrandt. The more you know, the more it will show.
Learn about other cultures
Get out of your comfort zone. Go to ethnic festivals and try different foods from around the world. Brush up on gastronomy and learn about terrine, escargot, and international liqueurs.
Remember that a lady improves herself as an entire package. One important part of that package is her mind. There is no doubt that there is something classy about an intelligent woman. So be curious, explore, learn, improve . . .
