Dear Jet Set Babe
I would like to tell you that I am totally in love with your blog and I am reading your blog for a year now. It inspires me and forms an inspirational platform for me. Your personal story excited me the most. I admire the fact that you chose to leave your home country and kind of explore the world on your own. I dream to do this also by myself. I am 17 years old and just finished my first year of University. I always question myself if I should go and leave everything and explore the world on my own. I feel the strong desire to leave my operating base and start ‘living’. My question is, are you happy afterwards your experiences in foreign countries, or would you just have studied and being stuck in the same routine?
Thank you sweety!
I thought to answer your email in a post as I’ve had many requests from readers about this topic – moving abroad. Many seem to be wanting but not everyone feel confident to do it – which I understand.
Moving abroad is absolutely amazing but at the same time can be very challenging! You get two of both worlds
To answer your question, I’m VERY happy to have taken my guts and moved abroad. Not only once, but several times.
It has given me unforgettable memories, amazing new friends and simply made me grow so much as a person.
The life experience you get living alone abroad, is priceless. When I get kids and they grow up, I will encurage them to do the same thing, take a gap year or so to discover the world because I know how valuable this experience is. (Unless I become a freaky over protective mother, then maybe I’ll take this back )
With regards to the rest, I think I’ve summarized it quite well in this post of Moving Abroad.
My advice is: Just do it! You won’t regret it, and it feels always scarier than it actually is! Just make sure you have a proper plan, some savings and the ability to be street smart and not act on any foolish ideas. Life is an adventure after all, Live it
