Girls, if there is only ONE thing you should really put effort in learning (and it’s an easy one!) it’s:
How to apply highlighter & contour your face
Because you can look like the elephant man but with the proper make up and face sculpting you can transform yourself to the most stunning woman in the world. This is the trick of all make up artists, celebrities and also the face of contouring herself Kim Kardashian.
If you learn how to master this, you can literally sculpt your face however you wish and enhance your beautiful features while concealing the others. Think of it as making your face more 3 dimensional, sadly most of us don’t bother adding this to our make up routine and we settle with a simple foundation/powder base looking like plain Jane.
If you decide to learn this magical & amazing tool to transform yourself to your most beautiful self, then there are many ways. Study these images, google “face sculpting & face contouring” or watch tutorials on Youtube – there are 100’s of them! Here is one of my favorite ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QA53yeywtY
Quick Summary on How to contour your face:
Nose: Slim your nose down by applying the contouring shade on each side of your nose, blending carefully, and the highlighter down the center of your nose.
Cheekbones: Suck in your cheeks, apply a darker shade to the hollows and a highlighter to the top of the cheekbones. Then apply blush as normal.
Forehead: Apply a light bronzer to each temple and blend.
Chin: Depending on your face shape (see picture above) apply a highlighter in the middle.
Eyes: Used at the back corner of the eye going upward toward the temple.
What you need to start contouring:
1 small brush to apply your contour lines
1 medium brush to blend
1 light color
1 dark color
These colors can either be powders, foundation, creme shadows, eye shadows, concealers etc. You can also mix it up. Whatever works best for you as the most important here is that you feel comfortable working with it. I personally LOVE the best highlighter in the world: Tom Ford Illuminate Intensity One. It’s creamy and goes easy in to the skin making it super easy to work with!
Bronzer – To finish off and add the tan complexion
Blusher – To finish off and add the natural rosy complexion
1 highlighter stick (gives you glow) or light sparkly eyeshadow to add on your highest points to add that little extra shine.
Happy Contouring! 😉
