Long story short, but I’m actually thinking of getting hair extensions. Never thought I’d had to go back to this field, as I love the natural look – but my hair is so thin and impossible to style – I’m tired of always having the same look!
I don’t want to make a full head or putting in a lot of hair. Just enough to add a tiny amount of length and body, yet I want it to look extremely natural!
As I’m not very updated on hair extensions, I thought to ask you guys for advice?
1. What is the latest, best, method for inserting hair extensions? Something that doesn’t damage your hair too much and if someone touches your hair it’s not very obvious?
2. Which hair grade and origin is the absolute best? My hair is very fine & thin, would some AAAA+ virgin Russian hair work best for me?
I’ve promised to write an update of how I feel about the Keratin hair treatment which I’ve done twice now.
The first one I did was not very strong, it was a mild one but my hairdresser warned me. Due to me being so paranoid of getting flat hair I didn’t want to go all in first time I tried. What she did was basically applying a mask, which I sat for 20 min under a heat lamp with, after the rinse she sprayed some spray and used a straightener. My hair was smooth immediately after and this was suppose to last up to 2 months.
But this first treatment lasted me only 1 month because I was stupid and wet my hair during swimming + used normal shampoo. Big No-No! So second treatment I did it in Bali and it was the proper “hardcore” one.
This time with the “real” keratin treatment the hair dresser applied a cream which he let dry on my hair + used a straightener. My hair felt a little bit greasy, and it was supposed to be like this for 3 days, only then could I come back to the hair salon and they would finish off the treatment.
Now I’m being very careful with my hair. Only special keratin shampoo, no wetting the hair during swimming and I’m trying to wash my hair as little as possible. The more you wash it, the sooner the treatment will go away.
I feel like I was born under a rock, totally missed out on the amazing power keratin can do to hair. But I’ve spoken to some friends which this treatment does not suit for, so I guess it’s all about what type of hair you have.
My hair is very thin, damaged, dry with loads of split ends – so this was the ideal cure to get the hair in shape. It feels stronger, shinier and generally speaking in it’s original quality again. And It got only a tiny bit more flat, I can still get volume in my hair with proper blowdrying – so I shouldn’t have worried so much before.
What is your opinion about the Keratin hair treatment?
I have never done it myself but I’m seriously thinking of doing one because I’m tired of my hair constantly breaking and looking dry.
The only times I can make it look acceptable is when I wash and blow dry it, but the day after it’s always the same frizzy story. And because of this I keep washing my hair everyday which is damaging and not good!
The reason why I haven’t done it before is because my hair is naturally straight making me think that this treatment was not for me.
My hair is also quite thin, which made me worry that the keratin would “flatten” the natural volume, which I cannot afford loosing!
But I have many friends who have done this treatment and their hair looks great! Like if they always have blow dried hair! Also I know Jet set Babes in general love this type of treatment, even though it’s quite hazard with it’s toxic chemicals.
However I have reached a stage where I’m so tired of my hair I don’t mind putting some toxins in it. Yes, I’m that desperate! I want silky and smooth hair that looks like a million dollars, not some dry bird’s nest! grr…
My question to you is, what’s your opinion? Does it flatten thin hair? Is it thaaat toxic as they say? And also, is it important who does it? Can the results vary drastically depending on what salon you go to? xxx
